Summer Camp Medicals-Revisited

Hello Everyone,

We are three (3) short months away from summer camp and so far, I have one (1) medical. Please take the time to read this post and ask me any questions you might have. On Sunday, August 7, the first day of camp, at check in time; the camp does a review of the medicals. If there are any problems with your medical, there are no medical offices open, in the area, to the medical prepared. Lets fix any issues with the medical now before we get to camp.

Below is a Summer Camp Medical re-post from February 28:

Hello Everyone,

If you are planning on going to summer camp this year, you must fill out the Summer Camp Medical attached. Adults and Youth are required to prepare this medical. Please do not look online for a summer camp medical and prepare that one. The link below will take you to the form. Please click on the “green” button that says “BSA Medical for Ten Mile River Scout Camps”. The one attached is the new medical form for 2022. That doesn’t mean BSA or GNYC won’t change it in the future, but for now this is the updated one.

Things to remember:

  1. We are Pathfinder District
  2. Remember to add your medical insurance information to the form where required and provide photocopies of your insurance card, front and back.
  3. Two MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccines are required for camp. Please check to ensure that your child has them.
  4. You can include a copy of your child’s medical printout form from your doctor. It is not a substitute for the BSA Summer Camp Medical, but in addition too.
  5. The OTC (Over the Counter) form must be prepared whether your child takes medication or not. This form must be signed by a doctor
  6. Please read the form about the Covid vaccine and fill out the form accordingly. We have yet to receive information on whether or not campers will be required to be vaccinated to go to camp.
  7. You must prepare the Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Response Form.

Please scan these forms and email ([email protected]) them to me. I do not want the originals and you should keep them in case we need them. I will review them and let you know if they are correct. I upload them to the Troop’s Google Drive so they are available for the Troop Leadership throughout the year. I delete the old ones every year.

If you send the medical forms to me, I will be responsible for bringing them to camp and seeing your child through the camp’s Medical Re-Check; where they review the forms, ask your child a few questions about how they are feeling and a temperature check. If you do not send me the medical forms, you will have to stay in camp until after the camp’s Medical Re-Check in case there is a problem with the forms.

Any questions comments or concerns, please reach out to me directly.
