Tis the season for wreath selling!!  The Troop 106 Annual wreath sale will be held this weekend, Saturday, November 28th and Sunday, November 29th.  As in the past, each scout is REQUIRED to purchase 3 wreaths (5 wreaths for a family with more than one scout) & do one selling shift.  We will be in 3 locations – Artis Drugs, Resurrection Ascension & Our Lady of Hope.  The price of the wreaths are $18 per wreath.  We need both scouts to sell and adult volunteers to supervise.   Please see the open shifts below.

Wreath prep will be held on Friday, November 28th at Trinity starting at 6PM.  It is recommended that Scouts do not come in uniform that evening.  We will also need some help unloading the truck earlier that afternoon.  Please let Anthony know if you are available to assist.

Please keep in mind that this is our ONLY troop fundraiser annually.  It helps keep us solvent while keeping the cost of the program down.  We really need all the help we can get, from ALL of our Troop 106 family.

Important Scouting Website Links

I want to provide you with some important Scouting websites to help you navigate Scouting.  As always, we’re here if you have any questions.

This is the Troop’s blog page where we post important information about upcoming events.  Anything we post to the Troop’s blog, emails directly to each family.

This is the Troop’s Facebook page

This is Scouting’s National website.  You can join Scouting, as an adult, log in and take training here.  Anyone can take Scouting’s Youth Protection Training without being a member.  I suggest it to all parents

This is the Greater New York City Councils website.  There’s lots of updated information including Covid updates and how it relates to Scouting.

NYC Scouting, in Queens, is broken up into three different Districts.  We are part of Pathfinder District.  Many of the adult leaders in the Troop are also members of the District as well as on the Council level.  This is the Pathfinder District’s Facebook page.

This is Scouting’s online shop.  It’s run by National.  You can purchase all uniform items, books and other Scouting items and have them shipped directly to your home.

This is Ten Mile River Scout Camp’s website.  This is where the Troop camps for Summer Camp, every year, for two weeks in August.  This camp is owned by GNYC

This is Camp Pouch’s website.  It’s owned by GNYC and is located in Staten Island.  It has a Scout Shop located in the main office.  Its part of a public trust and therefore is also open to the public for hiking.

This is Camp Alpine’s website.  It’s owned by GNYC and is located in Alpine, NJ off the Palisades Parkway.  It has a Scout Shop located in the main office.

Scoutbook is where the Troop tracks Scout’s advancement. Here you can find requirements for Rank Advancement as well as Meritbadge requirements

Good Evening everybody, hope all is well and safe with everybody. I am writing because as you may or may not know, the mayor announced today that all NYC Public Schools will close as of tomorrow for an undefined period of time. As of right now this does not effect the Troop Meetings or activities. We will continue to have in-person meetings. The wreath sale, will take place as scheduled on the weekend of November 28th and 29th.

On another note, I want to thank all those scouts and adults will came and volunteered last weekend with the Our Lady of Hope St. Vincent DePaul Society Thanksgiving Drive.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Be safe everyone and hope to see you all on Friday!

Christmas Wreath Flyer

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday, November 28, Troop 106 will be continuing our long historic tradition of selling Christmas Wreaths as the Troop’s one and only fundraiser.  As I’m sure you already know selling shifts for all Scouts is mandatory unless you’ve spoken to Anthony.  If you would like to volunteer to work as shift, please speak with Anthony to sign up.

Every Scout is required to sell 3 Christmas Wreaths.  If your family has two or more Scouts in the troop, then the amount to sell is 5.  We understand that with everything happening this year, if this is a problem for you, please speak to us.

Attached, is our flyer announcing the Wreath Sale, please feel free to share it by posting it to your social media websites, especially those associated with Middle Village and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Good Afternoon, Hope all is well with everyone! Just a reminder that we will be meeting tomorrow, November 13th at 7:30 at Trinity.

Wreaths are still only $18 a piece. We will be putting the wreaths together on Friday November 27th and selling them on Saturday November 28th and Sunday November 29th. We will be selling them this year at Artist Drugs, Resurrection Accession Church, and Our Lady of Hope Church. Please be on the lookout for the sign-up sheets. Each scout is expected to sign-up for at least one selling shift.

Next, We still have some scouts who have not signed up for this weekends service at Our Lady of Hope. Scouts are expected to sign up for one slot and be in Full Class-A Uniform.

Lastly, Thanks to Assistant Scoutmaster John Mohr for running Heritage night last Friday. John has now completed his ticket items for Wood Badge. Wood Badge is intense Adult Leader Training. Congrats John.
