Electronic Debate and Vote for 2015 Dues

***UPDATE 9/16/15***

Proposal: Raise dues from $60.00 to $80.00

During our two weeks at summer camp Mike approached Committee Chairman, Pat Streffacio, with a proposal to raise the dues from $60.00 to $80.00. His reasons for the increase are twofold:

  • Overall increase in prices for goods (Patches, awards, etc.)
  • Purchasing new class “B” polo shirts for the Scouts which have already been priced out at $15.00 each
  •  Increase in national dues from $15/scout to $24/scout annually. (Mike, this increase happened at least 3 years ago and was the basis on which you raised the dues $20 the first time, I don’t think I was being misleading at all—Dawn)

The reason this proposal is being brought to you now is that the new parent guide is also in development and we would like to have the new cost of dues listed in the new guide, if the committee agrees to vote the increase. The Parent’s Meeting is scheduled for September 25, the first Committee Meeting won’t be scheduled until after that date.

I am requesting an electronic debate and vote on this issue.

You can reply to this post by logging in two ways:

The deadline for this debate is by the end of the September 18 meeting (you can also bring it up then). If no one responds to this proposal, it will be assumed there is no debate and the proposal will carry and the dues will be raised from $60.00 to $80.00.

Honor Rein Olvet & Support a Great Cause

Our own Rein Olvet has been inducted into the Heritage Society for the Jack Kohler  Suanhacky Campership Asociation. There will be a dinner hosted by the Kohler’s (both Anthony Zalak & myself sit on their board of directors) to honor Rein & a great bunch of other scouters as well.

Rein has given of himself to Troop & Pack 106, for almost the whole time we have been in existence. I would love to see 2 – 3 tables of support for him.

The Jack Kohler-Suanhacky Campership Association provides camperships to Queens scouts to help bring down the cost of Summer Camp. This organization has given Troop 106 Scouts support for years.

Lisa, I & baby bump would love to see you there.
