Please Read – Important Info

Rather than create 3 posts we are putting everything together

1) This Friday is our annual wreath making night (in place of troop meeting – no uniforms required). We will be putting the wreaths together. As a reminder, every scout is required to buy 3 wreaths (most buy them for themselves, family, etc.) (so if a family has 2 son’s in the troop they would be required to buy 6 wreaths) & do one selling shift (Sat or Sun). Wreaths are $15/each. This is currently our only fundraiser for the year, and helps to keep the troop solvent, while keeping the cost of camping & participating in the program down.

2) As mentioned at the last meeting, this coming Friday is the deadline to submit an entry for the “Design our newest Hoodie” contest. Each scout is allowed to submit just 1 entry. The scout with the winning entry will receive a free hoodie. Any entries deemed inappropriate by the scoutmaster will be immediately discarded. We will begin taking orders once we get an estimate from the printer for the order. Expect hoodies to be between $20-$25/each

3) Mike co-chairs the charitable arm of his company. They are working with Jewish Child Care Association, which runs various foster care services for needy teens. The organization have given us “snowflakes” which are the teens personal wishes for holiday gifts. There are 2 small and 1 big. They don’t expect the big gift, and it total it’s about a $50 commitment. I have both boys and girls ranging from 14-21. We need to receive the gifts by Dec 19th. Would you like to sponsor a teen? contact Mike for more info.

If you have any questions about any of this please get in contact with Mike.

Shane’s Eagle Project Part 1

Hey guys its Shane here and I need your help for my Eagle Project, on Saturday December 6th I need you guys to come to Trinity at 9am to help put up flyers around Middle Village like we did for Hurricane Sandy. If you come to the meeting the day before that saturday you can pick up a permission slip (Shane’s Eagle Permission Slip) or you can print out one yourself. Anyone can help, bring your parents or any friends. Hope to see you all there, I know I can count on you guys .
Sincerely,
Shane Wynne
From Mike:
If you are working a wreath selling shift Saturday morning, obviously you will not be able to attend this part of Shane’s project, there are other times you will be expected to be there. As with any Troop 106 eagle project, the expectation is that every scout attends and participates.

Our New ASPL

I would like to introduce everyone to our new ASPL, Jack Sammon. He will be joining our troop and taking over the spot that was recently vacated.

Jack has a ton of leadership experience which includes:

He has taken AND instructed ILST, Venture leading, Den chief training. He is a leave no trace trainer, BALOO trainer, cub leader specific, Boy Scout leader trainer, ITOLS trainer. He was one of my Woodbadge trainers.

He is a Star Scout and looking forward to continuing his journey to Eagle.

Welcome Jack!

Last Call to Donate Coats

Before the meeting tonight, please take a minute to go through your closet to find any coats/jackets you haven’t worn in ages.

Tonight is the last night to donate. They will be picked up during the meeting and distributed to the people that need them at an event in Jamaica the day before Thanksgiving.

They are expecting this winter to be very cold, so please find it in your heart to help those that are less fortunate than yourselves.

If you want to volunteer at the event on Wednesday (12p-6p) please get in contact with Mike.

Website is back up & functional

I would like to personally thank Michael Sheridan Sr. who helped identify the issues that were seemingly creating problems for us.

After various testing it seems like the website is back to being 100% functional, including sending out emails when we put up new posts. Please continue to check the website regularly, as we are not sure if the issues we have will come back.

Thanks.

Next Camping Trip Announced

For the December camping trip (Dec 12-14) we will be going to:

Philadephia

We are in the process of booking a cabin at Pine Hill Scout Reservation (Berlin, NJ) which is about 40 min out of Philly. Cabin sleeps 24, so we have to cap sign-up’s at 30 people.

At the current time we are working on the program, but are requesting suggestions of things to do and places to see. It can be off the beat and path.

We are working to keep this trip affordable with the holidays right around the corner, expect trip to cost between $40-$60/person.

Full details coming by the end of the day. With a sign-up/payment cutoff of this Friday.
