***UPDATE 9/16/15***
Proposal: Raise dues from $60.00 to $80.00
During our two weeks at summer camp Mike approached Committee Chairman, Pat Streffacio, with a proposal to raise the dues from $60.00 to $80.00. His reasons for the increase are twofold:
The reason this proposal is being brought to you now is that the new parent guide is also in development and we would like to have the new cost of dues listed in the new guide, if the committee agrees to vote the increase. The Parent’s Meeting is scheduled for September 25, the first Committee Meeting won’t be scheduled until after that date.
I am requesting an electronic debate and vote on this issue.
You can reply to this post by logging in two ways:
The deadline for this debate is by the end of the September 18 meeting (you can also bring it up then). If no one responds to this proposal, it will be assumed there is no debate and the proposal will carry and the dues will be raised from $60.00 to $80.00.
Sep 18 – First Meeting – SPL election – Patrol Formation – Schedule Planning – TLC following (Youth leadership meeting)
Sep 25 – Parents Meeting – ALL PARENTS REQUIRED TO ATTEND – 7p @ Trinity. Scouts will have their first full meeting as the parents meeting is going on.
Oct 9-12 – First Camping Trip – TMR – Including Rafting/Canoeing – $60 –
****Money due NO LATER than Sep 25.***
PLEASE remember that if you/your son are not paid 2 weeks out of the trip you will not be able to attend. Also, there will be no refunds going forward. The only exception to this would be to attend a funeral. This applies to everyone. The small group of volunteers that along with the youth make this troop possible, appreciate you understanding why we had to put this into place.
Our own Rein Olvet has been inducted into the Heritage Society for the Jack Kohler Suanhacky Campership Asociation. There will be a dinner hosted by the Kohler’s (both Anthony Zalak & myself sit on their board of directors) to honor Rein & a great bunch of other scouters as well.
Rein has given of himself to Troop & Pack 106, for almost the whole time we have been in existence. I would love to see 2 – 3 tables of support for him.
The Jack Kohler-Suanhacky Campership Association provides camperships to Queens scouts to help bring down the cost of Summer Camp. This organization has given Troop 106 Scouts support for years.
Lisa, I & baby bump would love to see you there.
Tomorrow we will be taking part in the annual 9/11 memorial in Juniper Valley Park.
All Scouts are REQUIRED to be in full Class A uniform.
Meet at the Church at 645p.
Anthony will be the point person, as I will be attending another memorial at Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Core with a few of our scouts, and then catching up with you all later.
I need an adult to take point on this trip as I will not be able to attend. We will meet at the church at 4p and then head out to Coney Island.
Thanks in advance for your help.
As some of you may know, when that building fell in the East Village a few months back after the huge explosion, one of the 2 people that died was an Eagle Scout.
A group of us Eagle Scouts have arranged to have a shadow box made of all his scouting achievements, to give to his mother.
This is where I need your help. I have secured the shadow box, flag (which will be used as a backdrop), and all his awards, patches and merit badges. I need someone who can sew the patches and such, onto the flag.
If you have a family member or friend who would be willing to help, I would really appreciate it. It is about 35 pieces in total that would need to be sewn onto the flag.
Thanks in advance for your help.
