Summer Camp Info

I have gotten a lot of questions about Summer Camp. Here is all the info and answers to your questions.

When/Where are we going?

We will be going to Camp Aquehonga @ Ten Mile River (week 5 & 6) Aug 4 – 17. Your son can join us for either 1 or 2 weeks. Adults that wish to come please speak to Mike.

What does my son need?

Check this file out What to Bring to Camp

How do I register & how much does it cost?

There is no “application” to attend camp. The cost is $380 per/week(camp fee) + $15 per/week(district camp fee). The $15 per/week district camp fee covers: a t-shirt, pizza party, utensils, propane, etc. If your son is registered in Troop 106 the troop picks up that charge. Please make checks payable to “Troop 106”.

How do I apply for a Campership?

Unfortunately at this time applications for camperships are no longer being accepted. If there is a serious financial need please contact Mike.

What is there to do at camp?

Aquehonga Summer Camp

is the camps website and has a ton of information on it.

What is required of the scouts?

Mike requires that each scout take 3 merit badges/week at a MINIMUM. Here is the list of the merit badges List of Merit Badges Offered.

By July 26th ALL scouts will be required to provide Mike with a list of which merit badges they are taking.

Who can answer any other questions which I may have?

Mike or Anthony, This FAQ will also be updated as time goes on and will be stickied to the top of the webpage.

Help Wanted

Calling all Scout parents, friends and alumni…

We are in the process of planning Troop 106’s 35th Anniversary and Eagle Court of Honor and need dedicated, talented and resourceful types like yourself to help out on the committee. Please join us Friday, January 11 at 7:30 pm at Trinity if you can.

Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated!

Blue Mountain Update

Due to the sheer size of the troop we have to make some changes to Blue Mountain trip this year.

We will have a signup up sheet at the next two meetings 12/14 & 12/21, or you can email Mike. All scouts, ASM’s & Scoutmaster are guaranteed a spot. We will also have a waiting list for those that don’t fall into the categories above.

Money for the trip will be due on 1/4/13.

If you sign up and do not pay on 1/4 your spot will be in jeopardy, as we will then open it up to the waiting list that night.

We never want to exclude anyone, but due to the fact that the place can comfortable hold no more than 35 and the troop continues to grow we have to put this system into effect.

The trip will be $40.

Last year the trip was $30 but due to the increased cost of renting the lodge house we had to raise the cost this year.

Any questions see Mike.

Christmas Party

We are doing a pot luck at this years Christmas Party (12/21). All scouts are required to bring something so we can have a great time.

If your son is in Matt S. or Ryan H.’s Patrols they are to bring a tray of food (either hot or cold), If your son is in Cameron’s patrol they are to bring a tray of desserts.

We will also be doing a grab bag. If you want to participate, bring a wrapped gift of no more value than $10.

Any questions see Mike

Troop 106 Hoodies

The troop will be selling Troop 106 Hoodies this winter. Every Scout, Assistant Scoutmaster & the Scoutmaster are all required to buy at least 1, as the money raised will be used to purchase new equipment for the troop. If parents or other adults would like to purchase one as well (or an extra for your scout) that is perfectly fine. It was also believed to be nice to have something with the troops name on it. Likely we will be doing something like this every year going forward.

Sweatshirts are Men’s Sizes, Small to XXL. (unfortunately our supplier does not have any larger sizes than 2X)

Prices

Small  – XL – $20

XXL – $25

Money is due by 12/21 as they will be ordered shortly after that

There is also a CONTEST for the design of the hoodie. All entries are due by 12/21. The scout with the winning design (decided by the ASM’s & Mike) will get a FREE hoodie and their design used. Contest is only open to currently active scouts in the troop.

PLEASE contact Mike with your sizes and any questions you may have.

Once again this is MANDATORY for all scouts, asm’s & Mike to purchase a hoodie
