Sneaker Drive

September is Pediatric Cancer Month. We will be working with an organization called Max Cures.

If you have any pairs of used sneakers you would like to donate (sneakers only, not boots or shoes or sandals) please bring them to the meeting this coming Friday.

We will only be collecting at this Friday’s meeting.

If you have a charity/cause that you think we should support please reach out to Mike.

Cooperstown & Diamond Mine Trip

Our first trip of the year rapidly approaches us. Here are the details.

Date: Oct 10-13

Location: Salisbury Center, NY (John’s family’s home)

What: Cooperstown, Herkimer Diamond Mine, Fort Stanwix, Oriskany Battfield, & Johnson Hall

Cost: $90/person

Scouts will be sleeping in tents, Adults will sleep inside John’s House.

If you are going we need to know by Sep 26th, with money no later than Oct 3.

We WILL NEED parents to come and provide transport on this trip.

NOAC 2015

It is not too late to join us for the largest and biggest celebration in our Order’s history! NOAC 2015 will be an experience of a lifetime as we celebrate the OA’s 100th Anniversary. There are currently 40 brothers from our lodge registered to participate at NOAC as part of our lodge’s contingent (Awesome!!) We hope to bring even more! Time is running out to make your deposit

Join us as we celebrate the Order of the Arrow’s 100th Anniversary at the 2015 National
Order of the Arrow Conference. 10,000 arrowmen will descend upon Michigan State
University for an inspirational and unforgettable experience full of fellowship, training,
adventure, and fun!

During NOAC, Arrowmen will participate in a six-day conference which includes top notch training sessions, cool recreational opportunities, evening shows full of theatrics and special effects, and exciting programs.

The conference fee is $475. This does not include fees for travel, touring excursions, NOAC contingent memorabilia, and meals while traveling. We estimate the total cost will be around $750 per participant.

Approx Dates Aug 1 – Aug 11, this may vary, The conference is Aug 3-8 and travel time is needed.

To hold your spot a $100 non-refundable deposit is required.

This is open to current OA members ONLY. Henry & myself will both be attending. This will overlap our first week at summer camp (and possibly a day or two into the second week) so please keep that in mind.

Troop 106 at the NYC Marathon 2014

Troop 106 will be volunteering (and cheering on our Scoutmaster) at the 2014 NYC Marathon on Sunday, November 2nd 2014 from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Mile 14 (Vernon Boulevard and 46th Avenue in Long Island City Queens

Due to security issues, each volunteer must pre-register with the NY Road Runners Association. Volunteer Registration is open for Boys Scouts and their families. EACH PERSON must pre-register INDIVIDUALLY. The deadline to sign up is SEPTEMBER 30.

Step by step registration instructions:
1. Go to: https://mynyrr.nyrr.org/login
2. Log in or register with NYRR
3. Click “Volunteer” on left side vertical menu bar
4. Scroll to the bottom of “VOLUNTEER FOR THE TCS NEW YORK CITY MARATHON” section in center of web page
5. Click the “Volunteer” button in the “FLUID STATIONS 2014 TCS New York City Marathon” section
6. You will enter a web form with a 2 step process 7. Step 1: Select a Marathon Race or event and Volunteer position 8. Scroll down to “Fluid Station, Mile 14 – Queens ” and click adjacent radio button
9. Scroll down to bottom of step 1 page and click next.
10. Click any radio buttons that apply to you 11. Select Group: Select “Boy Scouts”
12. I am registering: Choose the appropriate combo of you and/or children
13. Choose shirt size
14. Accept the Legal Documents and agree to be a Volunteer
15. Now you are done and happily registered

9/11 Memorial Tonight

This is a reminder that we will be participating in the Juniper 9/11 Memorial tonight. We will be meeting at the church at 630-645. All scouts are required in to be full Class A uniforms.

Anthony will be the point person at the church, as I will be at another memorial (Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps) with some of the scouts.
