FLEA MARKET – SATURDAY

bsa_color

As previously posted the Flea Market is this Saturday. We will need a minimum of 6 scouts per shift in Class A uniforms please; We have a lot of Scouts this year so to be fair and prevent everybody showing up at the same time we are splitting it up into two time slots, you have the choice of:

  • 8 AM-12 noon
  • 12 noon – 4PM

We’ll be getting set up, selling raffle tickets and a few other things. Please shoot an email to [email protected] when you know what time you can make it. Thanks guys and see you Thursday.

Amish Country Trip Update

We will be meeting at the church at 6p SHARP!
Due to the weather expected (cold, not freezing) we are NOT going to require uniforms (neither class A or B).
Please make sure you bring a refillable water bottle & 1 bookbag per patrol (to hold bagged lunches in). Adults bring a coffee mug for the mornings.
We will be staying in cabins so all you need to pack is a sleeping bag and weather appropriate clothing.
Scouts are NOT permitted to bring cell phones or electronics. Cameras are ok.
In the case a parent needs to get in contact with their child reach out to Mike or one of the adults on the trip.
Here is a copy of the Itinerary (drivers please bring a copy)

Amish Country Trip

I personally apologize for taking so long to get you this information.

We are going to have a great time in Lancaster & the surrounding areas.

On the docket are: Amish Farm Tour & living experience, Wolf Sanctuary visit, Chocolate Factory Museum, Hand Made Pretzel Factory Tour, Toy Train Museum, & much much more.

The trip is going to cost $100/person.

The troop is picking up the cost of lodging, but we are approximating food costs at $45/person, due to the fact that the cabins we are staying in have no form of refrigeration, and $55/person in admission fees. In the case we come in under budget all scouts will get a refund to their account.

To save a spot please let us know tonight if you are planning on going & money is due by next week. In the case that you need a bit more time please contact Mike.

We will also need a significant parent presence as I expect a lot of scouts wanting to go. We will be staying in cabins with no showers for those who are not used to camping (a portable outdoor shower may be available).

Important Reminders

1) This coming Friday is Parents NIght. We request that all parents attend as we will recognize the scouts achievement over the summer, along with the new leadership team of Troop 106. Scouts arrive in full Class A uniform at 7p, Parents arrive at 8p. We have a lot of stuff to go over as well so please be on time. Thanks. Coffee & Refreshments will be served afterwards.

2) If you are planning on volunteering at the NYC Marathon this year, you must register online by September 30th or you WILL NOT be able to attend. This is due to what happened in Boston. Parents must register online for their children. Click the link below to walk you through how to signup.

How to sign up for the Marathon

3) If you are coming to the GNYC Jambo  Camping Trip (Oct 11 -14) we need a completed medical on file for you. If you provided one for summer camp you DO NOT need to provide an additional one. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this. If we do not have your medical you will not go on the trip and sadly we won’t be able to get you a refund either.

Any questions, see Mike.

Medical Forms

All scouts and adults planning on participating in any scout activities, particularly camping, must complete a BSA Medical Form (parts A and B only) for the Troop to keep on file. A copy of your insurance card (front and back) is also required.

• Medicals MUST be submitted before Jambo if you are attending that trip.

• Note: If you attended a BSA summer camp this past summer, you do NOT have to resubmit your medical form.

• A link to the forms is available in the Forms section of the website or here at http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/HealthandSafety/ahmr.aspx
